Making the Transition

These early months have been busy and, at times, challenging for fourth graders as they have been making the transition into this first level of the intermediate grades. Much of the focus has been on responsibility for oneself as well as reinforcement of organization and study skills.

Learning About Our Community

In our "quest" to become this year's Wardlaw-Hartridge "experts" on New Jersey, students will be learning about their communities and our 21 counties. Their home projects about their community was shared with their classmates.

      Meeting Our Seniors

On October 5th we met our senior buddies, Abby Rogers, Marisa Carlucci, and Ashley Martin.

Trick or Treat?
This is the weekend before Halloween. What a
to start the year!

Halloween in  the classroom.

Svanik and Shane having fun.

We celebrated Chinese New Year with Ms. Hua Liu in her classroom.

And later that week had a special treat with Dr. Wenqing Feng in Miss Colandrea's class.

Fire! We had an unexpected event and Wardlaw-Hartridge students proved how they were able to respond in an emergency.

Getting restless and hungry. The pizza was delicious!
Beverly Friend, a descendant of the Lenape Indians, was a guest speaker at  the end of January.. She brought many of her family's treasures to share with the fourth grades classes. She had the pelts of animals, tools that  were used by the early peoples, and musical instruments. Everyone made a necklace and learned a Native American dance.
Beverly with a  deerskin.

Judy wrapped in deerskin.
Everyone enjoyed making necklaces.
William and Jack having fun as Mr. Webster looks on.
What a great way to end the study of the Lenape!

As a culminating project in our science unit on flowers we dissected a flower and identified each of its parts.
